A luxury journey through Bhutan
8 nights from £8,935 per person based on 2 sharing
Your journey begins in Thimphu, Bhutan’s mountain capital. During your included sightseeing tour, you can visit the impressive Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, and the city’s traditional markets and craft workshops. There will also be time to enjoy the facilities at Six Senses Thimphu, including its peaceful wellness spaces and views across the valley.
Next, you’ll travel to Gangtey and the Phobjikha Valley, a quieter part of Bhutan known for its open landscapes and high-altitude setting. You’ll have the opportunity to visit Gangtey Goemba, a monastery overlooking the valley, and the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre, where you can learn about the rare birds that visit the region during the winter months.
From Gangtey, your journey continues to Punakha, Bhutan’s former capital and one of the country’s most scenic regions. Head to the remarkable Punakha Dzong, set at the meeting point of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers, as well as the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. You may also have the chance to cross one of Bhutan’s suspension bridges and sample ema datshi, a traditional dish made with chillies and cheese.
The hotels are an important part of the experience, combining modern comfort with Bhutanese design. Six Senses Thimphu offers valley views and dedicated wellness facilities, while Taj Gangtey Resort & Spa provides a peaceful retreat in the Phobjikha Valley. Pemako features rooms with mountain views and private sit-out areas, while your final stay at Taj Paro Resort & Spa, gives you a comfortable base for a hike to Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, where the trail leads through pine forest to the monastery built into the cliff face above the valley.
