Your journey begins with island stops across the Caribbean before reaching the Amazon River. In Manaus, you’ll be right in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, where river life, rainforest scenery, and wildlife spotting help make this one of the most memorable parts of the voyage. Along the way, there are chances to look out for toucans, monkeys, butterflies, and pink river dolphins, with calls at Santarém, Parintins, and Alter do Chão adding more depth to this incredible stretch of Brazil.
-
Next, you’ll continue along the coast of Brazil to Rio de Janeiro, one of the most recognisable cities in the world. Here, you can take in the views from Sugarloaf Mountain, see Christ the Redeemer, or spend time around Copacabana Beach. It’s a city with real energy, from its beachside neighbourhoods to its music, food, and late-night buzz.
-
Further south, you’ll reach Buenos Aires, a city known for tango, grand avenues, and classic Argentine dining. Time here brings a different pace to the journey, with elegant architecture, neighbourhood cafés, and the chance to try local favourites, such as empanadas, steak, and Malbec, before the voyage continues towards colder waters.
-
Then comes one of the biggest highlights of the sailing - scenic cruising around the Antarctic Peninsula. This part of the itinerary is all about vast glaciers, snow-covered mountains, penguins, whales, and remote seascapes. It’s not a busy port stop, but a chance to slow down and take in one of the world’s most dramatic natural regions from the decks of Borealis.
-
You’ll be staying on board Borealis with full-board dining included throughout. Fred. Olsen’s Freedom Fares include comfortable accommodation, selected drinks with lunch and dinner, self-service tea and coffee, entertainment, onboard talks, activities, leisure facilities, fitness classes, gratuities, port taxes, and luggage porterage.
