Your first stop is Haugesund, a coastal town with strong links to Norway’s Viking history. Take a walk along the harbourfront, explore the town centre, or head out to learn more about the region’s past. The surrounding area was once home to powerful Viking kings, with nearby Avaldsnes regarded as one of Norway’s most important historic sites.

Next, you’ll arrive in Ålesund, known for its distinctive Art Nouveau architecture and waterfront setting. One of the best ways to get your bearings is to climb the 418 steps to the top of Mount Aksla, where you can look across the town, surrounding islands, and Sunnmøre Alps. Back at sea level, Ålesund is easy to explore on foot, with cafés, independent shops, and seafood restaurants dotted around its streets.

From here, you’ll sail into Skjolden, a small village at the innermost point of Sognefjord. The journey itself is a highlight, taking you through Lustrafjorden and Sognefjord with mountains, waterfalls, and tiny settlements along the shoreline. Once in Skjolden, you can explore the surrounding countryside or simply enjoy the quieter pace and impressive setting at the end of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord.

Throughout the journey, Britannia gives you plenty to enjoy between ports. Around the ship, there are four pools, the Oasis Spa, and a great choice of entertainment, bars, and restaurants. Dining ranges from the main restaurants and Horizon buffet to speciality venues including Sindhu, Epicurean, and The Glass House, while the Crow’s Nest is a great place to finish the day with a drink and a sea view.
