Your first extended stop is Beijing, reached via Tianjin, where you'll have time to experience one of the world's great capital cities. Walk through the vast courtyards of the Forbidden City, stand beneath the colourful Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven, or head out to the Great Wall for one of China's most iconic views. Away from the famous landmarks, Beijing's traditional hutong neighbourhoods offer a glimpse into everyday life, while local restaurants serve everything from hand-pulled noodles to the city's famous Peking duck.

Next you'll arrive in Shanghai, where historic streets and striking modern architecture sit side by side. Stroll along the Bund with its grand colonial buildings before crossing the Huangpu River to Pudong, home to the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Tower. If you prefer to slow the pace, spend time exploring the leafy avenues of the former French Concession, browse the traditional shops around Yu Garden, or stop for steaming baskets of xiaolongbao in one of the city's much-loved dumpling houses.

Towards the end of your journey, you'll arrive in Taipei, a city that blends centuries-old temples with lively food markets and contemporary design. Visit the impressive National Palace Museum, take in the panoramic views from Taipei 101, or spend the evening sampling local favourites at Shilin Night Market, from crispy fried chicken and pepper buns to bubble tea. It's a fitting finale before sailing on to Hong Kong.
