Your first stop is Chania on the Greek island of Crete, where you can head into the Old Town and explore its narrow streets before making your way to the Venetian Harbour. Stop for lunch by the waterfront, try local Cretan dishes, and take a walk to the historic lighthouse. It’s an easy-going introduction to Greece, with plenty to interest both adults and younger visitors without needing to plan every minute of the day.

Next, you’ll arrive in Ephesus, reached from the Turkish port of Kusadasi. Exploring the ancient city together is a great way to bring history to life for younger members of the family, with the Library of Celsus, Temple of Hadrian, and enormous Great Theatre among its standout sights. From here, you’ll continue to Istanbul for an overnight visit, giving the family more time to see landmarks such as the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, browse the Grand Bazaar, and stop for Turkish food along the way.

After a day at sea, it’s back to Greece for Santorini. Spend the day exploring whitewashed towns and taking in the caldera views, with Oia and its famous blue-domed churches making a memorable family photo stop. Mykonos follows the next day, before the journey continues to Naples, where you could spend your final day exploring the city or turn it into another history lesson outside the classroom with a visit to nearby Pompeii.

Celebrity Ascent is designed to make the time between destinations part of the family holiday. Kids aged three to 12 years old can join Camp at Sea, with activities ranging from treasure hunts and arts and crafts to sports and themed parties, while teenagers have their own Teen Club with video game competitions, parties, and culinary activities. There’s plenty to enjoy together too, from time around the Resort Deck and pool to family dining and Le Petit Chef, an interactive speciality dining experience available aboard Celebrity Ascent for an additional fee.
