Next, you’ll travel on to Gaya Island Resort, set within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. Days here can be as active or relaxed as you like, from swimming in the infinity pool and kayaking through the island’s ancient mangroves to taking a boat to the private sands of Tavajun Bay. The resort’s Marine Centre also supports turtle rehabilitation and coral restoration, adding a meaningful element to your stay.

Food is a highlight in both destinations. In Kuala Lumpur, you can move between hawker stalls, stylish restaurants, and late-night food markets, while Gaya Island Resort offers fresh seafood, Japanese teppanyaki, shabu-shabu, and nabe at Omakase. You can also enjoy charcoal-cooked dishes at Tavajun Bay or choose the North Borneo Straits Tiffin, with each course reflecting the trading influences that have shaped the region’s cuisine.
