• Start your trip in Calgary, a city that blends modern city life with its western roots. It is a great introduction to Alberta, with a lively food scene and easy access to the surrounding plains and foothills. From here, you head straight into the Rockies, setting the tone for what is to come. Next, you’ll be in Banff, right in the heart of Banff National Park. This is where the scenery really takes over, with towering peaks, glacier-fed lakes and forests stretching in every direction. You’ll head up the Banff Gondola for wide-reaching views across the mountains, then take to the water on Lake Minnewanka for a different perspective at ground level.

• The journey continues with the Rocky Mountaineer, travelling from Banff towards Vancouver with an overnight stop in Kamloops. This is the standout experience of the trip. You’ll travel in SilverLeaf Service with glass-dome windows that open up the landscape around you, from steep canyons to winding rivers. Meals are served at your seat, so you can stay focused on the scenery as it changes throughout the day.

• Finally, you’ll arrive in Vancouver, where mountains meet the Pacific. You can explore the city using your hop-on, hop-off pass, stopping off at places like Stanley Park, Gastown and Granville Island. Expect a mix of waterfront views, independent shops and a strong food scene with everything from fresh seafood to international street food influences.

• Throughout your stay, the hotels are well placed for getting out and exploring, with comfortable, spacious rooms to return to each evening.
