First, you’ll arrive in Getxo, the gateway to Bilbao. From here, it’s easy to head into the city to see the Guggenheim Museum, walk along the riverside, or explore the Casco Viejo old town. Plaza Nueva is a great place to stop for pintxos, while the Basque coast gives the day a more relaxed feel before you head back on board.

Next, you’ll be in La Coruña, a coastal city with plenty for families to enjoy at a comfortable pace. You can walk towards the Tower of Hercules, the world’s oldest working Roman lighthouse, spend time around MarÃa Pita Square, or stop for churros, tortilla, or fresh seafood in one of the local cafés. It’s a lovely port for stretching your legs and getting a real feel for northern Spain.

After that, Vigo brings you into Galicia, known for its harbour, seafood, and old town streets. A wander through Casco Vello gives you cobbled lanes, tapas bars and views across the estuary, while nearby beaches and boat trips towards the CÃes Islands add something extra for families who want a bit more time outdoors.

You’ll be sailing on board P&O Cruises’ Iona, which is a big part of the holiday itself. Families can make the most of the SkyDome Pool, Infinity Pool, Panorama Pool, and Beachcomber Pool, along with live entertainment, the three-tier glass Grand Atrium and around 30 places to eat and drink.
