Your journey begins in Dijon, where you can explore the medieval centre, see the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, and look out for the famous Owl of Dijon carved into the Church of Notre-Dame. The city is also known for its mustard, traditional Burgundy dishes, and excellent food markets, making it a fitting starting point for a trip focused on the flavours of France.
-
Next, you’ll visit Beaune and the surrounding Côte de Nuits vineyards, one of Burgundy’s most respected wine-producing areas. Take time to admire the colourful tiled roof of the Hospices de Beaune, then enjoy a guided wine tasting in a traditional setting, learning more about the region’s grapes, cellars, and winemaking methods. The experience offers a closer look at why Burgundy’s wines are held in such high regard.
-
From there, the sailing continues to Tournus, where Romanesque architecture and local history take centre stage. Visit the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Philibert, explore the medieval village of Brancion, or head to Château de Cormatin, a 17th-century moated château with formal gardens and richly decorated interiors. Later, Mâcon brings more opportunities to sample regional wines, before the cruise finishes in Lyon, France’s gastronomic capital, where you can explore the old town, walk through its famous traboules, and sample local produce at Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse.
-
Throughout the trip, you’ll stay aboard AmaCello, an intimate ship carrying 140 guests. The ship has inviting lounges, a Sun Deck whirlpool, a fitness room, a sauna, and regionally inspired dining. The Main Restaurant, The Chef’s Table, and tapas in the Main Lounge give you several ways to enjoy full-board dining on board, with views of the Saône and Burgundy’s riverside scenery along the way.
