Your first Alaskan stop is Juneau, where the waterfront sits beneath mountain peaks and forested slopes. Head to Mendenhall Glacier for walking trails and views of Nugget Falls or spend time around downtown’s shops and seafood restaurants. A bowl of chowder or freshly caught salmon makes a fitting pause between exploring.
Next comes scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier, one of the highlights of this sailing. From the ship, look across the water towards its broad face of blue-white ice, and watch for pieces calving into the sea. Keep your camera close but take time to notice the changing light and floating ice as Norwegian Joy moves through the fjord.
Later, you’ll reach Ketchikan, known for its waterfront and strong links to Alaska Native art and heritage. Follow Creek Street’s wooden boardwalk above Ketchikan Creek, where historic buildings line the water. Look for totem poles around town or browse galleries featuring work by local artists.
