• You’ll begin in Tokyo, where the scale of the city quickly becomes clear. Spend time around Shibuya Crossing as crowds move in all directions, then switch things up with a walk near Shiba Park for views of Tokyo Tower. There’s no shortage of food here either, from simple ramen spots tucked under train tracks to high-end sushi counters where every detail matters.

• Next, you’ll head to Kyoto by bullet train, which is an experience in itself. Once there, the atmosphere changes as you explore areas like Gion, known for its traditional wooden buildings and quieter streets. Temples such as Kinkaku-ji and the pathways of Arashiyama Bamboo Grove offer a different side of Japan, one that feels more reflective and rooted in history.

• After a few days in Osaka, you’ll fly down to Okinawa, where the setting shifts completely from city streets to open coastline. The main island offers a mix of soft sandy beaches and clear, shallow waters that are ideal for swimming or snorkelling straight from the shore. Head out to spots like Cape Manzamo for wide sea views, or take a short boat trip to the Kerama Islands, known for their coral reefs and excellent visibility in the water. There’s also a different food scene here, with local dishes such as Okinawa soba and fresh seafood served in relaxed, unfussy settings.
