Your journey begins in Bucharest, where an included guided tour introduces the city’s history and architectural landmarks. The Palace of Parliament is a memorable stop, its immense scale reflecting a dramatic period in Romania’s recent past. You’ll hear more about the capital as you take in its principal sights, setting the scene for the historic towns and mountain landscapes to come.
Next, you’ll head to Brașov and explore some of Transylvania’s best-known landmarks. An included visit to Libearty Bear Sanctuary gives you the chance to meet local brown bears and learn about efforts to rescue more animals from captivity. You’ll also visit Bran Castle, a fortified landmark said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula and hear the stories that have made it one of Romania’s most recognised sights.
The journey then turns towards the Carpathians, where Sinaia brings a change of pace and scenery. Here, forested slopes and mountain air frame a visit to Peleș Castle, one of Romania’s most striking royal residences, known for its ornate interiors and storybook setting.
Throughout the tour, you’ll stay in a mix of well-located city hotels and characterful properties that keep you close to the places you’ve come to explore. Some occupy historic buildings, while others bring in local touches through their design and dining. Seven breakfasts and three dinners are included, giving you a balance of organised meals and free evenings to discover local restaurants for yourself.
