Why May & Early June Are My Favourite Time To Explore Europe
Highlights of Travelling in May
When it comes to short‑haul escapes in Europe, May and early June are my favourite months to travel.
The days are longer, the weather is warming up 🌤️ and everything feels fresh and full of possibility. 🌱 🌸 At this time of year you often get:
✅ Warm, comfortable days ideal for wandering, with just a light jumper needed in the evening 🧥 ✅ Beautiful spring flowers in bloom 🌷🌼 and lush green landscapes 🌿 that make every view feel extra special
✅ Fewer crowds at key sights, on the roads and in restaurants, so everything feels calmer and easier 😌
Whether it is a coastal break 🌊, a city escape 🏙️ or a road trip 🚗, I find exploring in May and early June so much more enjoyable. You can really take your time, soak up the scenery and experience a destination before the peak‑season rush.
In recent years I have loved visiting places like Iceland ❄️ and Italy 🇮🇹 at this time of year, and this year it will be Switzerland 🇨🇭 at the end of May for those big views, lakes and Alpine flowers 🌺⛰️
Even UK trips work beautifully in this window too. I can plan breaks in places such as Cornwall and Wales 🏖️🌄, which my family and I have also done in May to enjoy the scenery while avoiding the worst of the crowds and traffic.
If you would like to plan your own early‑summer getaway in Europe or here in the UK, I would love to help you choose the perfect place and style of stay. Contact me to start planning your May or early‑June escape.
