Family Ski-ing in Sestriere
We’ve just returned from our third family ski week, this time experiencing the magic of Sestriere, Italy. With the promise (and challenge) of early-season skiing, we opted for this high-altitude resort to give ourselves the best chance of snow. Interestingly, not a single snowflake fell during our stay! Thankfully, earlier snowfall meant there was just enough cover on the pistes, even if some stretches were a touch icy in places.
Despite the conditions, we made the most of every available ski session and clocked up some great miles on the slopes. One of the true joys was watching the kids' confidence soar as they tackled their first red runs. I have a sneaking suspicion it won’t be long before they’re confidently leading the way down every piste!
My own highlight was finally conquering my first black run. I’ll admit it was at a cautious pace, but I even managed four different variations in the last couple of days.
Sestriere offered the perfect setup for us. Each morning began with lessons for everyone, followed by afternoons spent exploring the mountains together. The resort is wonderfully suited for families, combining great tuition, relaxed après-ski, and plenty of child-friendly amenities.
