From First Idea to Welcome Home: How I Look After My Clients
Why it matters who you book with
On the surface, booking travel can seem simple: choose a destination, pick some dates, press “confirm”. In reality planning a trip that fits your lifestyle and runs smoothly behind the scenes is much more complicated and far more personal than that!
I have worked in travel since 1996, planning everything from business trips to carefully tailored holidays, and for the past 18 years I have built my own Travel Counsellors business from the ground up. When I started, I had no clients at all. Today, I am proud to look after so many loyal clients who trust me with their most important journeys.
Three decades of looking after travellers
Over more than 30 years, I have supported clients through some of the toughest moments our industry has seen: 9/11, the volcanic ash cloud, airport drone disruption, the pandemic and more recent periods of instability in the Middle East expecially. These experiences have shaped how I take care of people now:
- Staying calm and practical when plans suddenly change
- Unpicking complicated itineraries and rebuilding them so clients can still get where they need to be
- Working quietly in the background when things go wrong, often resolving issues behind the scenes so your holiday continues to run smoothly and you are none the wiser
The booking itself is just one small part. The real value lies in knowing you have someone experienced keeping an eye on things, ready to step in if the unexpected happens.
Built on relationships, not transactions
My business has grown almost entirely through repeat clients and recommendations. That means I focus on relationships, not one‑off sales.
Over time I get to know how you like to travel:
whether you prefer an aisle seat or a window, a boutique hideaway or a larger resort, a packed itinerary or lots of breathing space. I take the time to listen, ask questions and design trips that feel like “you”, not something off the shelf.
For my clients, that looks like:
- One trusted point of contact from first idea to welcome home
- Honest advice about what will work best for you and your budget
- Support before, during and after your trip, not just at the point of booking
Travel Is My Passion
Travel has been my world for my whole work life, and I love helping my clients make the very most of their time away, whether they are travelling for a special occasion, a hard‑earned break or an important work trip. I still feel a genuine sense of pride every time someone shares an update, sends a photo or messages a simple thank you, especially when those little extra touches have helped make their trip feel even more memorable. One of the very best parts of my job is that welcome home conversation, hearing all about the experiences you have had and the memories you have made. I bring the same level of care and attention to every journey, whether it is for business or for pleasure.
Whether I am arranging a dream holiday or an essential work trip, my aim is always the same: to give you the confidence that someone is looking out for you, so you can relax and enjoy the journey.
If you would like that level of care for your next trip, I would love to help you plan it.
