My honest review of Stella Island Resort: adults‑only luxury with serious Instagram appeal

First impressions: that “wow” moment

From the moment we arrived, Stella Island felt special. The whole resort is designed to be visually stunning: think elegant pools, stylish sunbathing spots and those perfect little corners that make you reach for your phone to take “just one more” photo.

Check‑in was seamless. While we were still soaking up the surroundings, the concierge was already talking us through restaurant options and helping us pre‑book our dinners for the week. It instantly set the tone: relaxed, organised and very much centred around making our stay feel effortless.

Our room: the perfect pool view escape

We stayed in a pool view room and it was absolutely perfect for us. Waking up, drawing the curtains and seeing the shimmering water below was such a lovely way to start each day. The décor felt modern and calming, with everything you’d expect from a high‑end resort: comfortable bed, quality finishes and a real sense of space to unwind.

For me, it struck a lovely balance. It felt luxurious and special, without tipping into being over the top. It is the kind of room where you are happy to come back in the afternoon, sit on the balcony and simply enjoy the view.

Dining: a food lover’s paradise

One of the absolute highlights of Stella Island is the food. There is a genuine sense of choice and quality here, and it feels like every restaurant has its own personality.

There are two main buffet restaurants, each with a huge variety of dishes. Whatever you fancy, you are likely to find it: fresh salads, local flavours, international favourites and plenty of options for different tastes. It never felt like a “typical” buffet. Instead, it felt more like a relaxed food market where you can try a bit of everything.

On top of that, you have a collection of à la carte restaurants, each with a different theme. We were lucky enough to try them all, and every one was a memorable experience:

Oceania: More fine dining in style, but still with a wonderfully elegant, relaxed atmosphere. Ideal for a special evening without feeling stuffy.

Greek taverna: A beautiful outdoor setting where you can enjoy classic Greek flavours under the sky. It really delivered that sense of place and felt incredibly romantic.

Umami: The Asian restaurant, and home to sushi that was genuinely “to die for”. If you love Asian flavours and beautifully presented dishes, this is a must.

La Parrilla: The place for meat lovers. I had one of the best steaks I have ever eaten here, cooked perfectly and full of flavour.

Paraiso: Mexican with a twist and so much fun. This was also where the white night party was hosted, which was one of the liveliest, most enjoyable evenings of the week.

Isla: Focused around fish and seafood, set in the most beautiful surroundings. It felt very serene and special, and is perfect if you enjoy lighter, elegant dishes.

All of the à la carte restaurants need to be pre‑booked, but this was made incredibly easy. At check‑in the concierge sat down with us, talked through the options and availability, and helped plan our evenings for the entire stay. It meant we could relax, knowing we had something lovely to look forward to every night.

Despite the popularity of the restaurants, none of them ever felt crowded. Service was calm, friendly and unhurried, and the overall atmosphere remained very chilled.

Atmosphere: relaxed, adults‑only and stylish

Stella Island is adults‑only, and you really feel that in the overall vibe. The tone is very much sophisticated and relaxed rather than loud or hectic.

Days are for slow breakfasts, pool time, reading in the sun and perhaps a cocktail or two. Evenings are about dressing up a little, enjoying wonderful meals and soaking up the ambient music and lighting around the resort. It is romantic without being overly formal, and social without feeling rowdy.

If your idea of a holiday is to fully switch off, enjoy beautiful surroundings and feel indulged without constant noise or children’s activities in the background, this is a great choice.

Service: thoughtful and unobtrusive

Throughout our stay, the service stood out. From the concierge who helped us secure all our restaurant reservations on day one, to the staff in the restaurants and bars, there was a consistent feeling of being well looked after without ever feeling crowded.

Nothing felt like too much trouble, but it was all done in a calm and friendly way. It added to the sense of easy luxury that ran through the whole experience.

How it compares: Stella Island vs Ikos

I have also stayed at an Ikos resort, which sets quite a high benchmark in terms of service and inclusions. What surprised me about Stella Island is that, for me, it actually felt more luxurious in certain ways, particularly in terms of style, atmosphere and overall aesthetic.

Crucially, I also found Stella Island more affordable than Ikos for a similar “feel good” level of holiday. I would place it firmly in the premium to high‑end bracket, but with a sense that you are getting a lot of value for the standard of experience you receive.

If you like the idea of Ikos but want something adults‑only, ultra‑photogenic and slightly gentler on the budget, Stella Island is well worth considering.

Final thoughts: a luxury escape I would happily book again

Stella Island Resort ticked so many boxes for me: adults‑only calm, beautiful design, incredible food and a level of service that made the week feel effortlessly special. The fact that it delivers all of this at a premium, but not unattainable, price point is a real bonus.
