View of the Alcazaba of Málaga from Me Malaga rooftop

A closer look at one of Malaga's newest hotels

I spend quite a bit of time in Málaga and I absolutely love the city, so I was really keen to see this hotel properly for myself. It’s right in the heart of Málaga, super easy for getting around. You can walk to the old town, loads of restaurants, bars and shops, and the port without needing taxis, which makes it a really easy base for a city break.

What I really loved about the hotel is how it ties into the local area and culture, and even how it fits visually within the city. It doesn’t feel out of place at all, which I think really matters in a city like Málaga where the surroundings are so beautiful and full of character.

In the lobby, there’s an original piece by Pablo Picasso, which ties in perfectly when you remember that Málaga is Picasso’s birthplace, and just adds that extra layer of connection to the city.

The rooms are what you’d expect from the ME brand, clean, simple and comfortable with a slightly elevated fee. They feature eye-catching ceiling artwork by Málaga-based artist Rafa García, which gives them a really unique feel.

There are also thoughtful touches like sample bottles of Málaga sweet wine in the rooms, which is a really nice nod to the destination. Some rooms also look out towards the Alcazaba and across the city, giving you that proper sense of location right in the middle of everything.

The rooftop was a highlight for me it has an infinity pool, bar and also restaurant seating with views over the Alcazaba and the wider city. There’s also a trendy lobby bar, plus a spa and gym within the hotel too.

The rooftop restaurant is also worth mentioning, with modern La Mancha-inspired dishes created by Michelin-starred chefs Javier Sanz and Juan Sahuquillo.

Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, you can still go in for food or drinks in the lobby bar or on the rooftop, which is a great option if you’re staying elsewhere in Málaga.

Overall, it’s a really good option if you want somewhere central that feels connected to the city, with that luxury feel but still very easy and relaxed.
