Is Disney Cruise Line Concierge worth it?

You are in boarding group 1, so instead of queuing with everyone else, you are checked in separately and shown to a dedicated area in the terminal just for Concierge guests. You are given your special gold sticker, the team come over to say hello, and you already feel like this is going to be a really lovely trip before you have even stepped on the ship.

When boarding starts, you are among the very first to walk through. Once you are on board, you have the option of heading straight to a private embarkation day lunch that is just for Concierge guests. You do not have to do this if you would rather explore, but it is such a nice, relaxed way to start your cruise. It is quieter than the main buffet, you are looked after straight away and alcoholic drinks are included if you would like a glass of something to celebrate.

After lunch, you can go and explore the Concierge Lounge for the first time. This quickly becomes a lovely “home base” during the cruise. The team there are genuinely fantastic: friendly, warm and so helpful, without ever being over the top. They remember you, they remember what you like, and nothing feels like too much trouble.

Another nice touch is timing for your room and luggage. Concierge guests can usually access their staterooms from around 12:30, whereas the rest of the ship is more like 13:30. Concierge luggage is given priority, so more often than not your bags are already waiting for you when you walk into your room. It really helps you unpack, settle in and start relaxing very quickly.

The Lounge itself is a peaceful spot to escape to during the day. There are soft drinks, speciality coffees and teas, and light bites available, so instead of heading to Cabanas you can just pop in for a quiet breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack. Between 5pm-10pm, alcoholic and speciality drinks are complimentary in the lounge. , and you can take them with you down to dinner or the theatre. It feels very calm and civilised, especially when the rest of the ship is buzzing.

One of my favourite parts was how they handle the main shows. You meet in the Lounge, then are taken down via the crew lift and into the Walt Disney Theatre before everyone else. You are handed popcorn and have time to choose your seats without any rush or pushing. Having queued on the other side of those doors before, this felt like such a treat. On Pirate Night you are invited up to the Concierge sundeck to watch the fireworks from a quieter spot, stretched out on loungers, instead of being in the middle of the crowds on the main decks.

Another big perk happens long before you even step on the ship. Around 130 days before you sail, you can send the Concierge team an email with all your requests and they will take care of everything for you. If you want to book adult dining like Palo or Remy, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, port adventures, Royal Gatherings, or, on Caribbean and Bahamas sailings, a cabana on Castaway Cay at either Castaway Family Beach or Serenity Bay, you can put it all in that email. These things are usually very sought after and almost impossible to get on your own without getting up at silly o’clock to book them the moment the window opens. With Concierge, you have priority over any Castaway Club status and they simply come back to you with what they have secured.

The stateroom itself feels more luxurious, with nicer furnishings and finishes, and you have two stateroom hosts looking after you. There are upgraded toiletries, bathrobes, and little touches throughout the room. Your fridge can be stocked daily with your favourite drinks, which is so handy when you just want a cold drink in the room without going anywhere.

Throughout the cruise, the biggest difference for me was knowing there was always someone to turn to. Instead of going to Guest Services and standing in a queue, you just pop into the Lounge or catch one of the hosts and they sort it. Whether it is dining tweaks, activity ideas or just checking something, it all feels very easy and very personal.Disney cruises are wonderful in any stateroom and I still think you can have an amazing time without Concierge.
