West Coast America Road Trip
The Ultimate Multi-Centre Adventure
There are some trips that just stay with you… and a West Coast USA road trip is 100% one of them.
This is the kind of holiday that blends iconic cities, bucket-list experiences and those “is this real life?” moments—all in one itinerary. And while I first did this trip years ago (June 2016), it’s one I now plan very differently for my clients (and trust me, that makes all the difference).
Because yes—you can wing it… but you really don’t need to...
Why a West Coast road trip?

From the bright lights of Los Angeles to the desert landscapes of Las Vegas, and the culture-filled streets of San Francisco, this route gives you huge variety in one trip.
✨ Beach days
✨ National parks & once-in-a-lifetime scenery
✨ Iconic landmarks
✨ Food, shows, shopping… everything
It’s one of the most popular road trips in the world for a reason—there’s genuinely something for everyone.
Stop 1: Los Angeles 🌴
Your trip usually starts in Los Angeles - and it’s BIG. Like, really big.
My advice now? Plan smart. Group your days by area so you’re not wasting time in traffic (because trust me… it’s a thing).
Must-do highlights:
- Santa Monica Beach & Venice Beach for that classic Cali vibe
- Hollywood Sign
- Universal Studios
- Watch a Baseball Game

3-4 nights is usually the sweet spot here
Stop 2: San Diego ☀️
An easy coastal drive takes you down to San Diego—and the pace instantly shifts.
This is where you slow down a little:
- Balboa Park
- San Diego Zoo
- Coronado Island beaches
It’s relaxed, scenic, and a really lovely contrast after LA.
Stop 3: Las Vegas 🎰✨
From coast to desert… next up is Las Vegas.
This is where your trip turns into full-on wow:
- The famous Las Vegas Strip
- Shows like Mystère by Cirque du Soleil
- Iconic hotels like Bellagio & The Venetian

But the real highlight?
👉 The Grand Canyon
Whether it’s a helicopter flight, day trip or overnight ranch stay—this is the kind of experience that turns a great trip into something unforgettable.

Scenic Stop: Lake Tahoe 🏔️
On your way north, I always recommend building in a stop at Lake Tahoe.
It breaks up the journey and gives you a completely different side of the USA—mountains, lakes, and incredible scenery.
Final Stop: San Francisco 🌉
Finish in San Francisco—and honestly, it’s the perfect ending.
This city feels totally different to LA and Vegas. More relaxed, more cultural, and full of character.
Top experiences:
- Golden Gate Bridge moments
- Alcatraz Island (book in advance!)
- Fisherman's Wharf
- Riding the iconic San Francisco cable cars
3–4 nights works perfectly here
The reality of planning this trip…
When I first did this, we:
- Booked hotels last minute
- Navigated with a paper map
- Made it up as we went
Now? I plan these trips completely differently for my clients.
Because the difference between a good road trip and an incredible
one comes down to:
✔️ Route planning
✔️ The right hotels in the right
locations
✔️ Pre-booked experiences (trust
me—some sell out fast)
✔️ Getting the pace right
The West Coast covers huge distances, and having someone map it out properly means you enjoy every moment—without the stress.
Thinking of doing this trip?
This is one of my favourite tailor-made itineraries to plan—and no two are ever the same.
Whether you want:
✨ Boutique hotels or iconic stays
✨ Coastal drives like the Pacific
Coast Highway
✨ National parks added in
(Yosemite, anyone?)
✨ Or a full fly-drive package with
everything taken care of
I can build it around you.
Just drop me an email or give me a call, and let’s start planning your West Coast adventure properly.
