Maldives made simple: how I help you find the right island
The Maldives looks beautifully simple on Instagram: white sand, turquoise water, an overwater villa and a cocktail at sunset. Behind those dreamy images, though, is a huge amount of choice. There are hundreds of islands, different atolls, transfer types, meal plans, room categories and hotel styles. It can be hard to know where to start and even harder to feel confident that you have chosen the right island for you. That is where I come in. I have a real soft spot for the Maldives and try to escape there each year for a dose of sunshine, turquoise water and barefoot simplicity. Over time, I have got to know the differences between the islands and what really matters when you are trying to decide. Here is how I help my clients cut through the noise and find their perfect Maldives escape. Not all Maldives islands are the same: On a screen, many Maldivian resorts can look quite similar. In reality, every island has its own personality. When I am helping you choose, I look at things like: Style and atmosphere Is the island romantic and peaceful or lively and sociable? Is it barefoot chic and relaxed or polished and glamorous? Some resorts are perfect for couples and honeymoons, others are wonderful for families, and some strike a lovely balance in between. Size and layout Do you like the feel of a tiny, intimate island that you can walk around in ten minutes or would you be happier somewhere larger with more restaurants and facilities? The size and layout of the island makes a big difference to how your holiday feels day to day. Beaches, lagoons and snorkelling Some islands have the classic wide, soft beaches and big turquoise lagoons that are ideal for swimming and paddling. Others are all about the house reef, with incredible snorkelling just off the shore. For some people, getting straight into the water and seeing marine life is the priority. For others, long, lazy beach walks are non negotiable. I help you find the balance that suits you. Dining and board basis All inclusive, full board, half board or bed and breakfast: the right choice depends on how you like to eat and drink and which resort you choose. I can help you understand what is really included, how much things cost on the island and which board basis offers the best value for you. Common Maldives booking “traps” When people try to book the Maldives on their own, there are a few common pitfalls I see time and time again: • Choosing purely on photos, then discovering the atmosphere is not what they expected. • Underestimating transfer times or costs, especially with seaplanes and domestic flights. • Picking the wrong room type for how they actually travel, for example a beach lover going straight for an overwater villa when they would be happier with sand under their feet. • Not matching the island to their pace, such as active travellers picking a tiny, very quiet island, or a couple seeking peace choosing a resort that is more family focused. My role is to help you avoid these surprises and make sure the island you choose feels right for you. How I match you to the right island When you get in touch about the Maldives, I will ask a few simple questions to start building a picture of what will suit you best: • Are you looking for total relaxation or do you like to be a bit more active? • Is this a honeymoon, a special celebration, a family holiday or a much needed break for two? • How important are things like snorkelling, diving, spa, kids’ facilities or privacy? • Do you prefer smaller, intimate hotels or larger resorts with lots of choice? • What sort of budget are you comfortable with? From there, I use my own experience, feedback from clients and up to date knowledge of the islands to narrow down the options and present a small, well matched selection rather than pages and pages of generic choices. Maldives plus a little bit more For some people, a week or ten days on a beautiful island is exactly what they want. For others, the Maldives is part of a bigger adventure. Because I specialise in tailor made, multi centre travel, I can help you build the Maldives into a wider journey. That might mean: • A city stopover before or after your island stay. • Combining the Maldives with a cultural destination for a “best of both worlds” trip. • Adding a few days somewhere else en route to break up a longer journey. It is about creating a holiday that flows beautifully and feels like it has been put together just for you. Why book with me rather than going it alone? When you book the Maldives with me, you are not just booking a hotel. You are getting: • Tailored advice based on your own priorities and preferences. • Support with all the details, including flights, transfers, timings and special requests. • Honest guidance on what will and will not work for you. • Peace of mind, with full ATOL and financial protection, and someone on hand if you need help while you are away. Let’s start the conversation… If you are scrolling through endless pictures of turquoise water and overwater villas and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choice, you do not have to figure it out on your own. Tell me what you are looking for, what you like (and what you definitely do not), and I will help you find the Maldives island that feels just right for you. If you are planning something a little bit special, I would love to help you bring it to life.
