My Bucket List Trips: Where I Find Travel Inspiration
As a Travel Counsellor, I am always dreaming about beautiful places. The destinations that capture my heart most are those with breath-taking natural scenery: dramatic coastlines, mirror‑still lakes, snow‑covered forests and landscapes that make you stop and stare. My own bucket list says a lot about the kind of holidays I love to design for my clients: meaningful journeys, full of wow‑moments and plenty of time to simply enjoy being together. Here are a few of the trips that inspire me most.
Norwegian Fjords: Dramatic Scenery, Effortless Exploring
Cruising through the Norwegian fjords is high on my list. Picture sheer cliffs rising from calm water, tiny villages clinging to the shoreline and waterfalls tumbling down the mountainside.
A fjords cruise is ideal for anyone who loves natural beauty but still wants comfort and ease. You unpack once, wake each day to a new view and choose how active or relaxed you want to be: wandering colourful harbours, riding scenic railways or simply watching the scenery drift by from the deck. It is a wonderful option for couples and families alike who want fresh air, big views and a sense of calm adventure.
Italian Lakes & Venice: Romance, Reflections and Culture
The Italian lakes are another constant daydream: Garda, Como and their lesser‑known neighbours, all framed by mountains and dotted with elegant villas and pretty towns. Long lakeside walks, leisurely boat rides, gelato stops and and sunset spritzes set such a lovely, relaxed tone.
Add a few days in Venice and you have a perfect multi‑centre escape. One moment the stillness of the lake, the next the buzz of narrow streets and canals, hidden squares, artisan shops and evenings on the Grand Canal as the palazzi light up. This combination is ideal for couples looking for romance and scenery, or for anyone who wants both peaceful nature and a touch of city magic in one trip.
Lapland: A Snowy Storybook For All Ages
For winter, Lapland is the ultimate storybook setting. Think snowy forests, pastel skies and the possibility of the Northern Lights above. Families can enjoy husky sledding, reindeer sleigh rides, meeting Santa and hours of simple snow play. Adults who love winter landscapes can also enjoy quieter moments around the fire, scenic safaris and nights spent searching the sky.
Because trips here are short and intense, thoughtful planning is key. The right mix of activities, downtime and festive magic turns Lapland from “nice trip” into “we will talk about this for years”.
Disney Orlando: Big Magic, Bigger Memories
Disney in Orlando is a very different kind of bucket list trip, but just as special. It is all about colour, music and pure joy: castles, parades, character meet‑and‑greets and incredible shows.
Orlando works brilliantly for families and multi‑generational groups, especially when the days are planned carefully. Balancing park time with pool time, picking the right tickets and choosing the best location to stay in all help to keep the magic high and the stress low. Done well, it becomes a holiday full of those “this is what childhood dreams are made of” moments.
Turning Your Dreams Into A Tailor‑Made Trip
These are some of the journeys that fill my own bucket list and inspire how I work: natural beauty, special moments and itineraries that feel personal rather than off‑the‑shelf.
If fjords, Italian lakes, snowy Lapland or Disney magic have sparked ideas for your own travels, or if you have a completely different dream in mind, I would love to help you create a holiday that feels just right for you.
