Feel‑Good Beach Holidays That Truly Give Back
with Iberostar
When you think about your perfect sunshine break, you probably picture a gorgeous beach, a great pool, fantastic food and somewhere you can properly switch off. Iberostar delivers all of that in spades: stylish beachfront hotels, really good value all‑inclusive options, brilliant kids’ clubs, adults‑only escapes, relaxing spas and friendly, genuinely warm service in some of the best locations in Spain, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
What I love about recommending Iberostar though is that there is a lot more happening behind the scenes. As part of my TTG Sustainability Ambassadors training, I have been learning about the work they do to protect their local environments and support nearby communities. So when you choose an Iberostar holiday, you are not only booking a fantastic hotel, you are also helping to fund some really inspiring projects.
One recent exciting example is a pioneering blue carbon project in the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park in Andalusia. Iberostar has joined forces with local government and other businesses to restore one of southern Spain’s most important coastal landscapes. It is the first project of its kind in Europe under a public blue carbon standard and it stands out for both its size and its potential to capture CO₂.
In simple terms, the project is bringing 155 hectares of tidal marshes on the northern bank of the River Guadalete back to life. By restoring the natural tidal flows and “breathing” of the marshes, the team is allowing the ecosystem to function as it should again. This means the return of special coastal plants like salt marsh grass, glasswort and sea lavender. They might look delicate, but they are climate heroes: they lock away carbon in their roots and soil, create safe havens for wildlife and help protect the coastline from storms and erosion.
The numbers are impressive. Forecasts suggest these restored marshes will absorb more than 32,000 tonnes of CO₂, which is roughly the same as planting around 160,000 trees, but with far greater efficiency than a conventional tree‑planting scheme. So while you are enjoying the sunshine and sea breezes on holiday, Iberostar is helping to turn nearby wetlands into one of nature’s most powerful tools against climate change.
This is not just a nice story on a poster. The project has the technical backing of the Regional Government of Andalusia and meets the Andalusian Blue Carbon Standard, validated by AENOR. That means everything is carefully measured, monitored and checked over time, so we know the benefits are real and long‑lasting.
For you as a guest, all of this sits in the background. Your experience is still about relaxing by the pool, letting the children run wild in the splash parks and kids’ clubs, lingering over long dinners and enjoying those sunset walks along the beach. The difference is that your holiday spend is also supporting the restoration of beautiful natural areas like the Bahía de Cádiz marshes and strengthening local communities who depend on healthy coasts and seas.
If you like the idea of a stay that feels indulgent but also does some good, Iberostar is a brilliant choice. I can help match you to the right hotel, whether you want an adults‑only hideaway, a fun family resort or somewhere special for a celebration, so you get a holiday you love with the added bonus of helping to protect the places you are visiting.
