Grecotel LUXME White Palace, Crete, review, our three magical days at this chic beachfront resort
Sometimes even the most carefully planned holidays do not go the way we imagined. Our recent stay at Grecotel LUXME White Palace in Crete was meant to be a full week to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, but life had other ideas. We only managed three days, yet the resort and the people there still made a huge impression on me.

Easy arrival into Chania and a
warm welcome
We flew from Bristol into Chania, then had a smooth private transfer of around an hour to the resort. Arriving in the early hours could have felt tiring, but instead we were met with a genuinely warm welcome in reception, a refreshing drink and some lovely snacks in our room to keep us going.
Tthere was a bottle of wine waiting in our room, a fully stocked minibar with beers and soft drinks, and a real sense that everything had been thought about in advance. We had a shared pool and our own double sunbed with a peaceful mountain view, the perfect spot for morning coffee or a quiet afternoon read.
This was a belated 25th wedding anniversary trip, delayed from the year before when a close family member became seriously ill. Even before anything changed, it already felt emotional and special to finally be there.
First impressions of the resort
Grecotel LUXME White Palace is a large, stylish, beachfront resort with a very modern, chic design. It feels luxurious yet relaxed, with bright white interiors, plenty of natural light and a real sense of space.
There are two large main pools, a separate children’s pool, and a long stretch of sandy beach just in front of the hotel. The sand is soft underfoot, although there can be some seaweed in the shallows, which is quite typical for this part of Crete.
Service around the pool was excellent, with food and drinks brought straight to your lounger. It is a small thing but it makes a big difference when you want to make the most of every hour in the sun.
For families, there is great children’s entertainment and plenty going on throughout the day. At the same time, the resort is big enough, and cleverly laid out, so there are areas that feel more peaceful and adult focused. It works really well for couples, families and multigenerational groups who want to enjoy time together without feeling on top of each other.
Families may also like to take advantage of the waterpark at a nearby Grecotel sister hotel, which you can visit for the day, paying just for your transfers there and back. It is a brilliant extra option if you have water loving children or teens and want to mix lazy pool days with a bit more splashy fun.
Dining, drinks and that “LUXME” all inclusive feel
One of the stand out features at this hotel is the choice of dining. There are around seven à la carte and rich buffet restaurants, giving you a real variety of cuisines and settings during your stay. Combined with the bars and lounges, it feels like there is always somewhere new to try for an evening drink or a special meal. You certainly will not go hungry !
The all inclusive “LUXME” concept really comes into its own here, from the quality of the food and drink to the thoughtful extras, like that well stocked minibar and snacks on arrival. It feels far more premium than many all inclusive options and is ideal if you like to budget in advance but do not want to compromise on standards.
Guests also have access to a WhatsApp concierge, which makes it very easy to ask questions, book restaurants or arrange anything you need without having to queue at reception. It is a small touch that makes the whole experience feel smoother and more personal.
In the evenings, there is a programme of entertainment, including White Night events that we sadly did not get to experience this time, but which are a real talking point among guests.
A magical evening at Agreco Farm
A real highlight of our stay was the evening at Agreco Farm, which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the resort.
For 10 euros per person, we joined a shared bus to the farm, set in the Cretan countryside, which feels like stepping into another world. The evening included a gentle tour of the farm with tasters of local produce, followed by a traditional meal as the sun set and the stars came out overhead.
It was one of those experiences that really connects you with the island, its food and its traditions, and felt very special. Knowing this is available directly from the hotel, with transport included, makes it an easy and memorable addition to your holiday.
Location and getting around
Grecotel LUXME White Palace is in a relaxed, seafront setting rather than a busy town centre. You cannot really walk anywhere from the resort, which is worth knowing in advance, but taxis and local buses are available if you want to explore. Also a good option is to hire a car to explore the island .
The beautiful old town of Rethymno is only around a 10 minute bus ride away and makes a lovely half day or evening out, with its harbour, Venetian streets and tavernas. We had planned to visit but did not make it this time, which gives me the perfect excuse to go back.
Crete itself is a gorgeous island, with dramatic mountains, olive groves, pretty villages and a coastline full of coves and beaches. If you want to combine pure relaxation with a little exploring, it is a fantastic choice.
When plans change, service really shows
After three days, illness at home worsened and we needed to cut our stay short and return to the UK to be with close family. It was absolutely the right decision and, fortunately, I was able to quickly arrange our return flights using 24/7 support and the same care I give to my own customers.
The hotel team were outstanding throughout, from arranging our return transfer to the airport to the thoughtful touches they had already put in place during our stay. Over just a few days, they had left gifts in our room, from cake and flowers to sparkling wine and rose petals, which made our anniversary trip feel truly celebrated, even though it was shorter than planned.
Those three days were enough for me to see that this is a resort I can confidently recommend to my customers, knowing they will be looked after.
Is Grecotel LUXME White Palace right for you?
Yes Yes and yes!
