Mauritian Paradise
Attitude Hotels
Stepping off the plane in Mauritius, I knew I was somewhere special, but it was not until I experienced Attitude Hotels first-hand that the island’s soul really came alive. This fam trip was far more than a hotel inspection: it was an invitation into a laid-back, authentically Mauritian way of life, where barefoot luxury, warm smiles and thoughtful eco-conscious touches are simply part of the everyday rhythm. Over my stay I had the chance to explore several Attitude properties, each with its own personality yet all united by the same philosophy: celebrating local culture, supporting the island’s communities and creating heartfelt, relaxing spaces for guests to unwind. From sunrise walks along powder-soft beaches to tasting home-style Creole dishes and chatting with the teams who pour so much pride into what they do, I came away with a much deeper understanding of what makes Mauritius – and Attitude Hotels – so special. In this blog I will share a behind-the-scenes look at my trip: the hotels I visited, the experiences that stood out, and the little details that will really matter to my clients, whether they are planning a romantic escape, a family adventure or a peaceful solo retreat.
The flight with Air Mauritius was excellent. They took a different route due to the Middle East crisis, making sure they were extra safe, but it did mean it added an extra 40 minutes to the flight. The cabin crew were wonderful and we were very well looked after, arriving in Mauritius feeling relaxed and ready to explore.
Here is how our time unfolded -
Day 1: Sunrise over Mauritius
We touched down in Mauritius around 7am, the early light just beginning to warm the runway. After a quick transfer, we arrived at Sunrise Attitude around 10:00 and immediately slipped into “relaxed” mode.
Tucked away on the tranquil east coast, Sunrise Attitude (adults only 4*) was our base for the first two nights, staying in a Partial Sea View room. Although the hotel itself is not directly on the beach, it is literally just a few steps away, with only a very quiet little road separating the property from the sand. In reality, it still feels wonderfully coastal: you wake up to the scent of the ocean, the rustle of palms and a teasing glimpse of turquoise through the gardens.
My room felt calm and contemporary, with natural textures and a soft, soothing palette that really fitted the name of the hotel. I loved being able to slide open the doors in the early morning and catch that hint of sea and sky from the balcony. It was the perfect gentle nudge to throw on a cover‑up, pick up a coffee and wander the few steps across to the beach in time for sunrise.
And the sunrises here really do live up to the name. Watching the sky slowly turn from inky blue to soft pinks, golds and apricots, with the lagoon gradually lighting up, was one of the standout moments of the whole trip. Everything felt incredibly peaceful, with hardly any traffic on the road and just the sound of the waves and the odd fishing boat heading out for the day. For clients who love quiet, soulful starts to their mornings, Sunrise Attitude is a little slice of heaven.
Later that morning we had lunch at The Market, which set the tone for the food across the group: fresh, colourful buffet stations, local flavours and plenty of healthy options. A site visit followed, giving us a feel for Sunrise Attitude’s easy-going, adults‑only vibe: modern, boho‑chic design, warm smiles everywhere, and that all‑important proximity to the beach.
The afternoon was left free to unwind: time to unpack, paddle in the shallows, or simply stretch out by the pool and let the jet lag melt away.
A POZ spa treatment introduced us to Attitude’s wellness concept, rooted in authenticity and simplicity, and was the perfect reset after an overnight flight.
As the sun dipped, we gathered for apéritifs at Bar 31 before dinner at Social House, where the atmosphere was casual chic and the flavours were global with a Mauritian twist. Our first night at Sunrise Attitude set a wonderfully relaxed pace.
Day 2: Markets, Street Life and Coastal Charm
On our second day, after a leisurely breakfast, we headed out to Flacq Market in search of a few souvenirs. It was a real, bustling local market, with stallholders selling a bit of everything: colourful spices, fresh produce, textiles, clothes and those little trinkets that instantly transport you back to a place whenever you see them at home. It felt wonderfully authentic and was a great way to get a taste of everyday Mauritian life beyond the hotel.
From there we were transferred to Tropical Attitude, a really good value adults‑only 3* hotel. During our visit we were shown some of the beautiful pool villas, which immediately made me think of honeymooners. They offer that extra level of privacy and space, with a relaxed, unfussy style that still feels special, and would be ideal for couples looking for a romantic hideaway without the big luxury price tag.
We had some time at leisure back at Sunrise Attitude. Then as the sun began to fade, we met for pre‑dinner drinks, which felt like such a nice ritual at this hotel, before heading to Kot Nou for dinner. Kot Nou really champions Mauritian home‑style cooking, and it was a genuine highlight: comforting flavours, generous portions and a cosy, intimate setting that made the whole evening feel warm and authentic.
Day 3: “Every Day Is Friday” & Zilwa Island Magic
National Day in Mauritius gave the island an extra festive feel. On the third day we transferred to Friday Attitude where we had breakfast. It is a 3‑star superior, eco‑conscious hotel on the east coast of Mauritius designed for a relaxed, barefoot beachfront experience. It offers a laid‑back, “every day is Friday” vibe in an intimate setting popular with families and couples looking for a cosy, authentic island holiday.
After a site visit we continued to Zilwa Attitude where we stayed for two nights. We did a full tour of the property, but due to the hotel being at 93% capacity we were limited on the rooms we could view. However, we were able to look at a couple’s room with a partial sea view. Rooms are large with gorgeous views of the beach, and there is a lovely sense of indoor‑outdoor living.
At lunchtime we crossed to the resort’s private island, Gran Zil, a five‑minute complimentary boat ride away. We relaxed in hammocks, swam in the sea and enjoyed that barefoot, castaway feel. We then tucked into the beach BBQ, which is all included in the all‑inclusive. After a chilled few hours, we headed to our rooms to freshen up before our dinner at Manao, the hotel’s Thai restaurant. All very delicious and a definite recommendation for guests who love fragrant, flavour‑packed dishes.
Later, we experienced a sundowner at La Pirogue Bar as the sky turned gold was the ideal end to a magical day.
Day 4: Marine Discovery & Boutique Magic
Thursday was all about the lagoon. After a relaxed breakfast at Karay, we transferred to Lagoon Attitude (4* adults only), a property with a strong eco focus and a real sense of place. Our visit included the Marine Discovery Centre, where guests can learn about the delicate lagoon ecosystem and the hotel’s sustainability initiatives: perfect for clients who care about responsible travel.
The highlight: a guided Ekolo snorkelling trail. Mask on, fins on, and we were off, exploring coral, fish and seagrass meadows with expert guidance. It is an easy sell for anyone who loves the water and wants more than just a quick dip in the sea.
Back on shore, we enjoyed a casual lunch at Taba‑J, Attitude’s street‑food‑inspired concept. Think Mauritian snacks, grilled specialities and a relaxed, pop‑up feel.
We then returned to Zilwa Attitude for some leisure time before heading out again in the late afternoon, this time to Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel (5* adults only). Our site visit here showcased a very different side of Mauritius: intimate, romantic and ultra‑stylish, perfect for honeymooners or couples in search of peace and privacy.
We ended the visit at the Peninsula, where a sunset apéritif bled seamlessly into dinner overlooking the water. It was one of those evenings that sells itself: ambient lighting, soft music, the sound of waves and exceptional food. We headed back to Zilwa Attitude glowing from yet another beautiful day.
Day 5: Iconic Views, Coin de Mire & Culinary Creativity
After breakfast at Karay, we checked out of Zilwa Attitude and set off along the coast. First stop: an iconic photo opportunity at Notre Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malheureux, the red‑roofed church that features in so many Mauritius postcards. It is a simple but striking moment that clients will love for wedding photos, proposals or just a memorable holiday snapshot.
We continued to Coin de Mire Attitude for a site visit that ended with cocktails on the beach. With views towards the dramatic outline of Coin de Mire island, this property delivers that classic “Mauritius postcard” scene. The atmosphere is friendly and low‑key, ideal for couples and families wanting charm without formality.
Next up was The Ravenala Attitude. After exploring this all‑suite hotel on our site visit, we rolled up our sleeves for a cooking class followed by lunch. This hands‑on experience is perfect for clients who love food and culture: learning to balance spices, taste local flavours and recreate Mauritian dishes back home.
We checked in mid‑afternoon, with time at leisure to relax before another POZ spa treatment, ensuring the pace stayed blissfully balanced between learning and unwinding.
As the sun dropped, we gathered at O Beach Bar for sunset apéritifs, then enjoyed dinner at Bistrot. The vibe was contemporary and buzzy, with creative plates and a stylish setting that would suit couples, groups of friends and families with teens.
Day 6: Reflect, Recharge, Return
Our final morning was deliberately easy. After breakfast at leisure, we joined an Attitude workshop and debrief in the conference room: a chance to pull together everything we had seen and felt over the past few days, and to match each property to the right kind of client.

Late morning was left free, with the option of one last POZ
spa treatment or simply lazing by the pool, followed by lunch at Lime. It was
the perfect way to round off a week of discovery.
By late afternoon we were en route to the airport, full of ideas, content and, most of all, a renewed appreciation for what makes Attitude Hotels and Mauritius so special : warmth, local character, thoughtful sustainability and a relaxed style that invites you to slow down and soak it all in.
