Singapore - Small Island Big Impression
Singapore certainly made an impression! Clean, safe, easy to get around and SO humid! From Sentosa to Marina Bay, Raffles and the Singapore Sling, we packed plenty into our stopover.
Wow, the humidity hits you as soon as you arrive! But what a fabulous place Singapore is.
We stayed at the Novotel Singapore on Robertson Quay, which I thought was a great area to base ourselves. Robertson Quay and nearby Clarke Quay have a lovely atmosphere, with plenty of restaurants and places to sit, eat, have a drink and watch the world go by.
One thing that really surprised me was Sentosa Island. I hadn't realised quite how much there was there! Sentosa has Universal Studios, several hotels and lovely beaches. It's definitely somewhere I would suggest allowing time for rather than just thinking of it as a quick visit.
Back in the city, we visited Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, two of those iconic Singapore sights you just have to see.
And, of course, there had to be a Singapore Sling!
We also couldn't visit Singapore without heading to Raffles for high tea, darling! Very nice indeed, and definitely one of those classic Singapore experiences I wanted to tick off my list.
Another thing that really impressed me was just how clean and easy Singapore felt. The MRT was great for getting around and I felt very safe while we were there.
Would I go back? Absolutely.
I think Singapore is well worth considering as a stopover, but give yourself enough time to actually explore it rather than simply passing through.
Would I personally rush straight back? Maybe not, but only because there are still far too many other places in the world I haven't seen yet!
After more than 40 years working in travel, that's still my problem...
My travel list gets longer, not shorter!
