3 Nights in Marrakech: Hammams, Rooftops & Non Stop Fun With the Girls
At the end of October, two friends and I escaped to Marrakech for three nights of spa time, rooftop sunsets, cocktails and a whole lot of laughter. It is only around a 3 hour flight, but it felt like being transported to another world of spices, souks and fire dancers. We packed so much into three days that I came home buzzing and already wanting to go back.
First Impressions & Jemaa El Fnaa
We stayed about a 25‑minute walk from Jemaa El Fnaa square, which turned out to be a good base: close enough to stroll in, but far enough away when we needed a bit of calm. The hotel itself was very average and really more suited to a budget break, so I would choose something a little more special next time (which I can definitely help with if you are planning a trip).
The weather at the end of October was mixed: around 20 degrees with some cloud, which actually made it very comfortable for walking and exploring. No scorching heat, just “throw on a light layer and go” vibes.
Jemaa El Fnaa is full‑on in the best possible way:
- Busy, buzzing and hectic
- Stalls, street food, shops and rooftop terraces
- Snake charmers and monkeys in the main square
- A real assault on the senses, but one of those places you just have to experience at least once
It is not for the shy or the ultra‑calm, but if you like atmosphere, this is where you will find it.
A Traditional Moroccan Hammam: Marajah Spa
One of the most memorable parts of the trip was our traditional Moroccan hammam at Marajah Spa, including gommage (a full body scrub) and a massage.
I am actually glad I did not know too much about what to expect beforehand, and even more glad I was with close friends. Think:
- Steamy rooms
- Very thorough scrubbing
- Minimal modesty
Once you relax into it, it is an incredible experience: skin like silk, tension melted away, and that feeling of “this is what locals actually do,” rather than just a standard hotel spa. It was eye‑opening, slightly hilarious at times, and something I would absolutely recommend trying once in your life.
Rooftops, Sunsets & Halloween Vibes
Marrakech really comes alive at night, and the rooftops are where the magic happens.
We visited a few rooftop spots and loved:
- Nobu Rooftop Bar
Dinner and cocktails with a real “night out” feel. It is on the expensive side, but for a special evening it was worth it.
There was entertainment, dancers and even fire shows, and it was brilliant for people‑watching. You could sit there for ages just soaking up the atmosphere and the views. - Kabana Rooftop
A fantastic spot for drinks and food, with a fun, lively vibe. Great cocktails, good music and a lovely place to settle in and enjoy the evening.
End‑of‑October also meant plenty of Halloween decorations in the bars, which gave everything an extra fun, playful twist. Watching the sunset from a rooftop, then seeing the city lights and spooky touches come to life, was one of my favourite parts of each day.
Food, Entertainment & Making Nights Special
We booked all our restaurants in advance before we travelled, and I am so glad we did. Marrakech is very busy in the evenings and popular places fill up quickly, especially at weekends.
Some of our food and entertainment highlights:
- Mo Mo
Great food and a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Perfect after a busy day of wandering the city. - Comptoir Darna
This felt wonderfully “Marrakech.” Local dishes, a vibrant atmosphere and brilliant entertainment. We loved watching the dancers and the ladies balancing trays and candles on their heads. It is busy every evening, so booking ahead is essential, but it is a fantastic choice for a full night out with dinner and a show. - Saffron
One of my absolute favourite nights of the trip. The food was delicious and the entertainment really drew everyone in. It was one of those evenings where everyone got up, joined in and the whole place felt like one big party. Proper holiday memories.
Quad Bikes, Tea & Camels
We also booked an excursion that combined quad biking, a tea stop and camels, which turned into a real highlight.
In the spirit of full honesty: I ended up with the guide on my quad bike because I could not steer it properly! But that just added to the fun and gave us so many laughs.
The outing had a bit of everything:
- Dusty tracks and adrenaline on the quads
- A calming break for traditional tea

It is a great way to get out of the city for a few hours and see a different side of Morocco.
