Thailand: Find the Right Mix of City, Adventure and Beach
Thailand isn’t one type of holiday. You can explore bustling cities, cook local dishes, wake up surrounded by rainforest and finish with your feet in the sand—but the right combination depends on you. Having travelled through Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Elephant Hills, Khao Lak and Koh Samui myself, I share practical advice in my video to help you start planning.
Bangkok brings temples, markets, street food and rooftop drinks. Exploring along the Chao Phraya River adds another perspective, while the city’s rail networks can help you avoid spending too much time in traffic.
Chiang Mai offers a different pace, with northern Thai culture, temples such as Doi Suthep, cookery experiences and opportunities to watch Muay Thai. For a change of scenery, Elephant Hills and Cheow Lan Lake bring rainforest, dramatic limestone landscapes and a memorable alternative to another hotel stay.
Then comes the beach—and these destinations aren’t interchangeable. Phuket offers plenty of choice, from lively areas to quieter luxury resorts. Khao Lak suits a slower pace, Krabi combines striking scenery with boat excursions, and Koh Samui offers everything from bustling beach areas to peaceful hideaways.
The important bit? Thailand’s coasts have different weather patterns. Your travel month should help determine where you finish, rather than choosing a beach first and checking the weather afterwards.
Watch my video for a closer look, then tell me when you’d like to travel, how long you have and what you love doing. I’ll help you build a Thailand holiday with time to enjoy it—not just tick off the stops.
