Mallorca Villa Escape
sun, sea and slow-down time with my mum and sister
Quality family time together with my mother and my sister.

I flew from Liverpool to Palma (PMI) with my mum and sister,
arranging special assistance at the airport as my mum has quite poor mobility.
It made the whole journey much easier and far less stressful for her. We had
also pre-booked a hire car so that we could explore the island at our own pace
once we arrived.
From Palma we drove up to Pollensa. It took us a little while to track down our villa thanks to a misfiled email with the directions, but eventually we found it tucked away in a peaceful spot. The villa itself was a charming whitewashed hideaway with pretty gardens, a private pool, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was not ultra-luxury, but it was comfortable, functional and air-conditioned, with very cosy beds and a lovely sense of seclusion.
After a quick trip to the nearby supermarket to stock up on food and drinks for the week, we settled in for our first evening: a home-cooked meal, a good game of Scrabble and an early night.
The pool was a real highlight: around 10 metres long, perfect for doing lengths in the morning or simply drifting on lilos in the afternoon sun. There were plenty of sun loungers and the surrounding garden was full of colour, giving the whole space a very tranquil, private feel.
Our days soon fell into a wonderfully relaxed rhythm:
morning tea or coffee on the balcony, long lazy hours around the pool, and
regular visits from four inquisitive kittens who quickly decided we belonged to
them. Much of our time was spent planning and preparing meals together. The
villa had a built-in brick barbecue in the outdoor kitchen, which we used often
for seafood feasts of prawns and salmon alongside other Spanish-inspired
dishes. It did get very warm for whoever was on “BBQ duty”, but it was worth it
for those al fresco dinners under the evening sky.
Mallorca is far more mountainous than many people expect,
and having the car meant we could enjoy the island’s dramatic scenery. One day
we drove through the Tramuntana Mountains, stopping at the serene Lluc
Monastery before continuing on to Sóller and Port de Sóller for a leisurely
tapas lunch. Winding mountain roads, spectacular views and the occasional goat
wandering across the road all added to the adventure.

Another evening we headed along the Cap de Formentor, one of the most beautiful drives on the island, to soak up the sweeping sea views as the light softened.
We also made time for the beach. One morning we drove over
to Alcudia for a swim in the sea. The water was wonderfully refreshing and,
with a little assistance, we were able to help my mum in and out safely so that
she could enjoy it too.
This trip was very much about slowing down and spending
quality time together in a comfortable home-from-home. The villa was booked
through one of our trusted partner suppliers who offer a wide range of villas,
from great-value family options to more luxurious properties, across Mallorca
and many other countries. It was the perfect base for a relaxed week of
sunshine, simple pleasures and making memories with two very important people.
