The Costa Brava is not an area that I know that well, we have tended to visit other areas of Spain, or travelled South of Barcelona before, so we were looking forward to heading North and our stay in this area of Spain.

A 50 minute drive from Barcelona was our  base, the lovely Bamblue Boutique Apartments in Pineda de Mar.

Pineda de Mar is a traditional working town and an ideal base to explore the many coastal towns along this stretch.

Our 1st floor apartment at the Bamblue was spacious, bright, modern and comfortable, with a very large terrace off the lounge/kitchen and smaller balcony off the main double bedroom. (Number14). There was also a single bedroom and sofa bed in the lounge. With plenty of space for a dining table and well equipped kitchen. The modern bathroom had a walk in (powerful) shower. We had everything we needed for our stay. Bamblue offer different size and located apartments, to suit all clients needs.

With extra touches like, a small milk carton, tea, fresh strawberries (grown locally), water, snacks etc + the use of a handy cool box during our stay, for the beach or around the pool. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and on hand, should we require assistance.

The communal areas are clean and well kept and there was a good size swimming pool, with plenty of sun beds. We tended to explore the surrounding towns of Calella, Santa Susana, Malgrat de Mar & Blanes during the mornings and then enjoy relaxing by the pool in the afternoon, and we never had an issue finding beds.  During the Summer months, they also have a pool bar, which is handy.

There is also secure parking (at extra cost), which we found useful and saved trying to find a space nearby.

There are plenty of supermarkets including Mercadona, Carrefour & Aldi + smaller markets in town. The walk into the centre of town takes about 5/10 mins and there are many shops and restaurants on offer.

The train track runs along the coast from Barcelona and we did get the train to Blanes one morning, although be warned, the walk from the station to the front/town is long, about 40/45 mins. We took a taxi back!

The other towns stations are situated right at the beach, so it was unusual to not be able to see the beach until you went under one of the tunnels, but handy for popping on the train and only a 40mins trip into Barcelona. So a good option for visiting the city and combining with a coastal resort too.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the Bamblue Boutique Apartments - Ideal for families, couples (like us), friends, singles, groups - anyone - great for a short break as well as a longer stay.
