Day 1 – Southampton & Embarkation
My adventure begins in Southampton. Check-in was swift, despite the 5000 people all trying to get on board at once.
Once onboard, Iona charms with its soaring triple-deck Grand Atrium, glass walls framing the sea, and Italian-marble staircase. We unpacked in our balcony cabin (midships Balcony cabin.) and headed up to explore. The ship was buzzing with excitement for the upcoming destinations
– At Sea & Celebration Night
A full sea day left us time to soak up the atmosphere—morning yoga on the promenade, the back-of-house ship tour (insider tip, book early!) and sampling buffet favourites at The Quays. Later, the formal evening is a highlight: dinner in one of the main dining rooms, followed by aerial performances in the SkyDome and upbeat entertainment in the theatre.

Day 3 – Stavanger, Norway
Our first port: Stavanger, famous for colourful waterfronts and Norway’s oil legacy. Many guests took shore excursions or hopped on hop-on bus tours to explore the city and nearby fjord scenery. Back on board, we tucked into gastropub fare at Keel & Cow—burgers and steaks worth splurging on

Day 4 – Olden & Scenic Cruising
In Olden, wander through lush valleys, ride the Loen Skylift, or just enjoy the charming town. Later the ship glides through the dramatic fjords—Innvikfjord and Nordfjord—its glass-enclosed decks offering uninterrupted views. Evening isn’t over until you sip gin from the world’s first distillery at sea, available via tasting experiences.

Day 5 – Flåm
Mid-fjord scenery continues as we visit Hellesylt, gateway to iconic Geirangerfjord. We took a scenic railway to waterfalls, although you need to book early. Spend the evening in the Glass House lounge with wine tastings led by Olly Smith, a quiet cocktail in the 710 Club or join trivia sessions with prizes

Day 6 – Haugesund & Leisure
Next comes Haugesund, a coastal port rich in Viking history. Many visited local town attractions or walked the harbour. Onboard, we lounged by one of Iona’s four pools, including two infinity pools and 18 whirlpools with sea views. Evening entertainment amps up with DJ sets in the SkyDome and high-energy theatre shows.

Day 7 – Final Sea Day
Our last sea day is the perfect time to relax. A spa treatment, wander through shops, or just recline on deck with panoramic sea views. Some fellow passengers raved about onboard quizzes, finishing with stamps in the Quiz Passport redeemable for keepsakes. Later, the final evening offers a farewell dinner and maybe a silent disco under the stars

Day 8 – Return to Southampton
Disembarkation is calm and well-organized. Top tip is to wait for the early crowds to disappear, and then take your time. We parked at the airport (about 20 mins away from the cruise terminal. Much quieter, and you get a free taxi to the port
