Our dream Caribbean Cruise
Caribbean
Our amazing adventure in the Caribbean, onboard P&O's Arvia
Our voyage started in Barbados, where we were greeted at the airport and taken straight to the port for our embarkation, which was very fast and well organised.
After settling into our cabin, we explored this beautiful ship, which would be our home for the next 2 weeks, there was plenty of activities, including 4 swimming pools (including one stunning infinity pool!) 18 Jacuzzis and an altitude sports arena with high ropes and mini golf.
The choice of dining was plentiful, giving flexible dining at a time convenient to you, the new dining system meant that you could choose a restaurant from over 20 dining venues, and join a virtual queue, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a pre dinner drink at one of the large selection of bars.
Our first stop was the French Island of Martinique, part of the Windward Islands, situated between Dominica and St Lucia, we docked in Fort de France and headed for the nearby bay of Les Trois ilets, it was only a 10 minute drive away, and was prefect for our first day exploring, the clear blue sea and the rocky coves of white sandy beaches were stunning!
Our second Island was the Volcanic island of St Kitts, a popular island for hiking through the rainforest up to the volcano, Mount Liamuiga, I personally decided to stay a bit closer to home and took a taxi up to Timothy Hill, where the views of the island were amazing, before going to frigate bay to enjoy the beach.
Our third island and one of my favourites was Tortola, which is one of the British Virgin Islands, we took a taxi to Beef Island, which is joined to the mainland by a bridge, the beaches on this side of the island were out of this world! I have never seen water this clear, we spent the day exploring the coastline and sampling some Caribbean rum!
Our fourth island was the island of St Maarten, we docked in Philipsburg, which is on the Dutch side, our first stop was the famous Maho Beach, which has the beach at the end of the runway, which was a great experience seeing planes of all sizes landing over the beach! we also took a taxi over the border to the French side of the Island and visited Marigot, which has an amazing Marina Fort Louis, where we sampled the local cuisine and did some shopping.
Our fifth island was the highlight of the cruise for me Antigua! We had an overnight stop here, which gave us the opportunity to explore more areas of the island, our first day here was absolute paradise, I booked a cabana at the popular beach club the "treehouse" which was absolutely amazing, with great food, great cocktails and stunning seaviews, with a beautiful beach with clear blue waters only a stones throw away! on our second day we jumped into a water taxi and went to the famous Dickenson's Bay, home of the famous red telephone box on the beach and the floating bar in the sea, here I had the opportunity to do some horse riding along the beach and the surrounding area, which was truly magical!
Our sixth island was the beautiful island of Grenada, we did some exploring and visited the national cricket ground (as hubby loves cricket) we then took an excursion the see the waterfalls and the tropical rainforest.
As our seventh island was going to be St Lucia, we got up on deck for sunrise to watch us sail past the famous "Pitons", we prebooked an excursion to see the waterfalls, the rainforest and botanical gardens and stopped for lunch with a stunning view of the "Pitons" in the background, it was truly an amazing experience!
We sailed back to Barbados for our overnight stay, giving us the opportunity to see this gorgeous island, Barbados was definitely one of my favourites, we arranged a catamaran cruise with a fantastic company called "cool running's" who gave us a great experience, they provided us with food and drink, snorkelling equipment and took us to hot spots along the coast to see seaturtles and ship wrecks full of tropical fish, there was so many it was like swimming through a fish tank! A truly amazing experience.
We finished our holiday of a lifetime with dinner at one of Barbados top restaurants the "QP Bistro", which provided top quality entertainment and top class cuisine.
This was certainly a trip of a lifetime x
