Sailing from Rome to Barcelona onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic, this Mediterranean itinerary mixes famous cities with smaller coastal stops that feel a little more local. Over seven nights, you’ll move between the historic streets of Italy, the relaxed waterfronts of the South of France, and the energy of Barcelona, with time to slow down and make the most of the ship’s impressive facilities in between.

Your first stop is Salerno, one of southern Italy’s more easy-going coastal cities and the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. The seafront promenade fills up in the evenings with locals stopping for aperitivo, while tucked-away trattorias serve simple dishes like seafood linguine and freshly fried zucchini flowers. If you venture further along the coast, towns like Positano and Amalfi bring dramatic cliffside views and small boutiques selling handmade sandals, ceramics, and bottles of local limoncello.
Later in the sailing, you’ll arrive on the French Riviera in Villefranche-sur-Mer, perfectly placed for time in both Nice and Monaco. In Nice, the Promenade des Anglais curves along the coastline while the Old Town is packed with small bakeries, market stalls, and relaxed cafés serving fresh socca and chilled rosé. Or head to Monaco for a completely different feel, where polished marinas, luxury boutiques, and the famous Monte Carlo Casino bring a touch of old-school glamour to the day.
Your voyage ends in Barcelona, where wide boulevards, beachside bars, and striking architecture give the city its unmistakable energy. Spend time wandering through the Gothic Quarter’s narrow streets before stopping for tapas around El Born, where small local spots serve everything from jamón ibérico to fresh seafood paella. Along Passeig de Gràcia, Gaudí’s famous buildings, including Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, add a bold, artistic edge to the city, while the waterfront around Barceloneta is perfect for a slower afternoon by the sea.
Back on board Norwegian Epic, your Balcony Cabin gives you lots of space to unwind between ports, with floor-to-ceiling doors leading onto your own private outdoor area. The ship itself feels lively but relaxed, with everything from adults-only sun decks and a full spa to live music venues, cocktail bars, and speciality restaurants to enjoy, including Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki.
