Amsterdam Short break
Amsterdam Short break
For short breaks or longer stays
Having just returned from an amazing short break in Amsterdam where I have been to before, and it reminded me exactly why this city is perfect for a long weekend.
Think elegant canals, gabled townhouses, cosy cafés and world‑class culture, all wrapped up in a relaxed, walkable city that feels instantly welcoming. Whether it is your first visit or a return trip, there is always another neighbourhood to wander or museum to discover.
Here are some of my must‑do recommendations:
- Explore the canals by boat at sunset for a completely different view of the city
- Visit the Anne Frank House and book well in advance
- Spend a morning in the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum
- Wander the Jordaan district for independent boutiques and brunch spots
- Hire bikes for a few hours and ride through Vondelpark
- Take a food tour to try Dutch specialities like stroopwafels and bitterballen
- Pop over to De Pijp for buzzing bars and street‑food style dining
