Crete October half term
Our half term sunny break in Crete

A Week of Sunshine in Crete: Our October Half-Term Family Escape
Thereâs something magical about Crete in October. The heat softens just enough to make everything feel gentle and golden, yet the sun still shines like itâs midsummer. This half-term, our family traded school runs and soggy autumn mornings for a week of sunshine, sea breezes, and endless splashes
âď¸ Sunshine Every Day From the moment we arrived, Crete welcomed us with warm, glowing daysâperfect for families who want guaranteed weather without the scorching heat. October here feels like natureâs sweet spot: warm enough for pool days, cool enough for lazy strolls to town, and still bright enough that every photo looks postcard-perfect.
đââď¸ Our Swim-Up Pool Paradise We stayed at an all-inclusive resort with a swim-up pool, and honestly, itâs going to be hard to go back to ânormalâ rooms again. Thereâs nothing like waking up, sliding open the terrace door, and stepping straight into clear, cool water while the kids cannonball in beside you. Early mornings were peaceful, and afternoons turned into family splash-fests.
đŚ All-Inclusive Bliss (Yes, Unlimited Ice Cream!)The beauty of all-inclusive with kids? Freedom. No stressing about meal plans, snacks, or the budget, The resort kept our kids smiling with endless ice cream, poolside pizzas, and smoothies, while we happily grazed on fresh fruit, grilled fish, and creamy Greek desserts, Of course, Greek salads became our daily ritualâcrunchy cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, slabs of feta, and olive oil so fragrant it deserved its own applause.
đŚ On-Site Water Park Adventures
One of the kidsâ favourite parts? The on-site water park slides for every bravery level, and splash zones for the littlestâhours disappeared in pure, sun-drenched joy. The best part was being able to wander back to the swim-up room whenever we needed a break
đ Crystal-Clear Waters & Beach Wanders
Creteâs coastline is stunning, even more so in October when the crowds have thinned. We took slow strolls to the nearby beach, where the crystal-clear waters looked almost unrealâshimmering turquoise and warm enough for long swims, sometimes weâd wander further into town, weaving through little shops, stopping for iced coffees, or picking up local treats like honey and olive-oil.
đ Evenings in the Golden Glow
As the sun dipped, everything turned gold. Weâd sit on the terrace with a glass of wine or take one last walk to the shore to watch the sky melt into pinks and oranges. The kids would chatter about their favourite slides, and weâd feel that rare sense of perfect, simple contentment.
⨠A Half-Term to Remember
Our week in Crete gave us everything we wanted: sunshine, relaxation, adventure, and the kind of family moments that stick with you long after the suitcases are unpacked.
If youâre dreaming of an easy, warm, memory-making October escape, consider Crete. The swim-up pools, the Greek food, the water parks, the beachesâthey all come together to make the most effortless, joy-filled family holiday.
Ready to go back already. âď¸
