The superyacht era begins with Emerald Cruises

A new chapter at sea is taking shape, one built around the ease, space, and quiet confidence of the superyacht lifestyle. With Emerald Kaia launching in 2026, Emerald Raiya following in 2027, and Emerald Xara joining in 2028, the fleet is growing with a refined focus on sleek design, intimate guest numbers, and the freedom to slip into smaller ports, secluded harbours, and coastal towns that larger ships simply cannot reach.

The superyacht era begins with Emerald Cruises

Emerald Kaia sets the standard

The first phase of this next generation of yachts is Emerald Kaia. Carrying up to 128 guests, she brings together the feel of a private yacht with the polished service you’d expect from a luxury cruise. The Wellness Deck, Sky Deck, and Observation Sun Deck give guests more space to stretch out between ports, while the Night Market Grill and Soléa Bar & Bistro add a more social, destination-led feel to dining. Days on board feel luxurious and easy, from quiet moments in the Observation Lounge and long lunches on deck to swims from the marina platform and evening drinks as the coastline slips slowly by.

Emerald Raiya arrives in the Mediterranean

Next, Emerald Raiya will make her debut in June 2027 on an eight-day Greek Islands and Turkish Coastlines voyage, bringing this same sleek style to some of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after shores. Guests can expect the kind of itinerary that includes whitewashed lanes in Mykonos, views across Santorini’s caldera, or a wander through Bodrum’s marina before heading inland to landmarks such as Bodrum Castle or the ancient ruins of Ephesus from Kuşadası. Because Emerald’s yachts are smaller, the experience feels more personal, with more time close to the water, less fuss getting ashore, and a stronger sense of being part of the coastline rather than simply passing it.

From the Adriatic to the Seychelles

After her first season, Emerald Raiya will spend the summer sailing the Adriatic and East Mediterranean before heading to the Red Sea and the Seychelles in December for winter. That opens the door to a really varied style of yacht cruising, from Dubrovnik’s city walls and Split’s Diocletian’s Palace to the fjord-like approach into Kotor, where mountains rise straight from the bay. Later in the year, the mood shifts completely, with Red Sea stops offering access to places such as Aqaba and Wadi Rum, while the Seychelles brings island-hopping between Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, where granite boulders, quiet coves, and clear water give the journey a slower rhythm.

Emerald Xara takes the fleet further

Taking the story further in 2028, the fifth luxury yacht in the fleet is Emerald Xara. She is larger than Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara, while keeping the same 128-guest capacity, which means more space rather than more people. The ship details point to 64 suites, 94 crew members, and a 120-metre design, with enhanced areas, including a larger Sky Deck, an elevated Observation Sun Deck with a spa pool, La Cucina Dining and Terrace with an open kitchen, an expanded gym, Elements Spa, and a Marina Platform with complimentary aquatic toys, such as SEABOBs, inflatable kayaks, water trampolines, and stand-up paddleboards.

Why the Douro should be your next river cruise

24 July 2026

River cruising has a wonderful way of slowing the pace of travel, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in a destination rather than simply passing through it. That couldn't have been more true for our Head Office colleague, Janet Whitingham, who recently returned from Riviera Travel's ‘Highlights of the Douro Valley & Salamanca’ itinerary on board MS Riviera Rose. Sailing through one of Europe's oldest wine regions, Janet discovered a journey that combines spectacular scenery, charming riverside towns, exceptional food and wine, and fascinating history - all while unpacking only once.
