Carlisle Bay enters a new chapter in Antigua

Set on Antigua’s south coast, Carlisle Bay is entering a new phase, with a multi-million-dollar renovation bringing considered updates to its suites, restaurants, and shared spaces. The work is being completed in stages, allowing the resort to refresh its contemporary Caribbean style while holding on to the warm, attentive service guests know it for. The refresh comes as Carlisle Bay earns recognition from the MICHELIN Guide and Condé Nast Traveller, bringing yet more reasons to book a stay here in 2027.

Carlisle Bay enters a new chapter in Antigua

New suites and refreshed restaurants

The first stage was introduced in October 2025, with redesigned one-bedroom Ocean, Bay, and Garden Suites, a refurbished Pavilion, and updates to restaurants Indigo on the Beach and Ottimo! The next stage, available from October 2026, includes 16 redesigned two-bedroom Signature Beach Suites and four three-bedroom Carlisle Suites. The Signature suites come in Terrace and Balcony options, with two bedrooms and generous space for families or friends to spend time together. Soft natural materials and contemporary Caribbean interiors give them the feel of relaxed island residences.

Four suites shaped by Antigua

Each of the four Carlisle Suites draws on a different Antiguan setting. The Leeward collection includes the Fig Tree Drive Suite, inspired by the island’s rainforest route, and the Bird Island Suite, which takes its cue from the offshore islands. On the Windward side, the Rendezvous Bay Suite reflects the shoreline’s sea-worn textures, while the Signal Hill Suite references one of Antigua’s historic lookout points. Their individual palettes and details make the suites feel connected to the island, while giving each a distinct character.

Recognition from guests and the MICHELIN Guide

Carlisle Bay made its debut in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection with One MICHELIN Key, a distinction for stays recognised for their character, quality, and lasting impression. The resort also ranked seventh among the Caribbean and Atlantic’s top ten resorts in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, improving on its ninth-place position in 2025. As a guest-voted award, the result reflects the experiences and warm welcome visitors have shared over the past year.

The people behind the experience

The resort’s service has also received individual recognition: Kalin Fontaine, one of Carlisle Bay’s food and beverage managers, was named among the global top ten in the 2026 Leading Quality Assurance Sirius Awards. Kalin was the only Caribbean professional recognised in this year’s cohort. Looking ahead, Carlisle Bay plans to complete the remaining two-bedroom suites and public spaces during its closure in 2027, continuing the renovation in carefully planned stages.
