We recently booked a trip to Dubai with Donna at Travel Counsellors who we have used a number of times before. We were very much looking forward to this trip. The situation with the Middle East arose several weeks before our scheduled trip. I had checked our travel insurance and had noted that as was the case with most travel insurance policies we would not be covered for this situation. We were in close contact with Donna due to our concerns who gave us various options. As we did not know how long the situation was going to carry on in the Middle East and after much consideration we asked Donna if it was an option for us to have a refund. We were very pleased to hear that Donna was able to secure a refund (less package protection and ATOL fee). This was such a relief for us. We can now wait for things to settle in the Middle East and will definitely re book the planned holiday with Donna. This situation definitely shows that booking with a travel agent gives you an advantage over booking on line – I could speak with a person who I had a relationship with. I had a personal point of contact and I am so glad that I had booked through a reputable travel agent who I will definitely book with again.
