I sailed on Celebrity APEX last year to Scandinavia - our first cruise North! Since Covid came into our lives it seems to have made most of my clients more determined than ever to make the time to get away. As soon as we were able we started spreading our wings again - starting with the UK and then venturing further afield and most of my clients have done the same. In 2024 our biggest trip was a month spent travelling around California and Canada. The highlight was the Calgary Stampede which we followed with a leisurely self drive through the Rockies and a stop on the East in Montreal. Our first trip 2025 was to Abu Dhabi and Thailand and we ended our travels visiting Tallinn in Estonia for their Xmas markets. I was also lucky enough to visit Costa Rica through the tourist office on a business trip. For 2026 we visited the USA again and enjoyed Windstar Pride in the Caribbean and most recently came back from the amazing Puy du Fou theme park in France. It has won numerous awards, has been open for 40 years and doesn't have a single ride yet welcomes more visitors each year than a certain mouse. For each personal & client booking I make I'm planting trees through Trees4Travel to help offsets the carbon emissions generated by our travels. So far I've planted over 1000 trees in Kenya, Mozambique & we're now starting on Madagascar . It's not a lot in the bigger scheme of things, but it's a start to making people more aware of what they can do to help regeneration & support local communities in developing countries. My experience includes arranging complex tailormade itineraries and tours to Africa, Asia, Australia and America, but also cruises and stay-still holidays to the Caribbean, Europe, and even Newquay, as well of years of arranging business travel to some fairly obscure places. I’m thorough, careful and I try to ensure my clients won’t have to worry about anything because I’ve thought about everything beforehand. I would love to send all my clients to Seychelles, the most beautiful country in the world. But the truth is, since the world’s most perfect beaches were my childhood playground, my own trips have been less relaxing. I loved the grandeur of the Canadian Rockies, the seemingly endless plains of the Serengeti, the Great Wall of China, the ridiculously ornate interior of St Petersburg’s Hermitage. And I’ve wanted, since I visited 30 years ago, to return to Samarkand, now in a country that didn’t even exist then. Strangely, since my travel agency was named Karnak Travel, I have never been to Egypt. I’m quite a fan of group tours, which make seeing a lot really easy, but since my own first exhausting tour aged 19, called “8 Countries in 10 days” I’ve known the benefits of building my own trips and I’ve enjoyed recommending, planning, and booking for other people too. My travel has taken me all over the world, with the most recent trip being a week in Sri Lanka. Last year I had a fabulous two-month tour of Japan, New Zealand and French Polynesia. I have had the privilege of spending a year in Australia and three months travelling in South America, visiting Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador (including the Galapagos) and Colombia. I combined backpacking with five-star hotels, trekked to Machu Picchu and boated down the Amazon - incredible experiences that will stay with me forever. I try to learn a few words everywhere I go and love to experiment with the local food, although being vegetarian, that has sometimes been slightly disastrous (especially in Japan!)
